Positivity is the key..

POSITIVE! This is the word in which everyone in the world should try and use, and to think about daily.  Every week I try to stress to people about how much they should be grateful for what life they have and how they should take life as it comes, and not to take advantage of it. Do not get me wrong everyone has there ups and downs.. its normal, but some people do take advantage.

I can most definitely say that since having my first seizure my outlook on life is totally different. I have learnt what a tough life can be like. In regards to jobs, homes, friends and family. I have worked out that I must have moved about 14 times within the last 4 years. Mostly due to my epilepsy and people not accepting me as I am. All through my epilepsy I have struggled. I will be the first to admit this. Although to be honest I do not believe that I should have been treated the way I did back then, as it does till this day effect me now. I left home when I was 17 and moved in with my previous partner. He, his mother and step dad were AMAZING to me! They took me in as one of their own and looked after me when I was going through the most horrific experiences I could ever have imagined. They helped me in soo many way such as taking me to work, to hospital and doctor appointments, helping me when coming round from having a seizure, to also calm and de stress me as much as they could, and to be honest the biggest thing was they loved me for who I was and never judged me for this.

I remember his mother always saying to me that I should never be ashamed of who I am and that I am and always will be a very strong young lady due to all I have been through, and that her and her partner always admired me for what was happening to me and how I dealt and coped with it. Although the main thing she use to say was to me was to be positive. She knew of all people that I am a worrier. I used to non intentionally sit and worry about the next time I was going to have a seizure, whether work would sack me for having them, what happens during my seizure, how many times did I have one last night? etc. etc. But the main thing I used to be scared about is what people thought and would think about me having a seizure. She helped make me stronger and not care about other peoples opinions, and she helped me to think positive to keep me from stressing myself out too much as she knew the after affects it had on me and my body.

(P.s The above is to be continued)

Have any of you guys been through any of the above?

About me...

As I am very sure not all of you know me. ( Unless you have followed my other blog in the past ). Although this is currently the start of my new fashion/epilepsy blog so I am just getting back into the swing of things.

Well I will start off my name is Alice and I am 22 years old. I am epileptic ad have been diagnosed since I was 18 years old. I have been through a lot of ups and downs within the last few years, and I can most definitely say that I am very lucky to have come through the other side okay. I am one of a very big family so I have had a bit of a hectic life! Although I would never want to change this.

I do not know about you all but I left school, went to college to study Graphic Design, Photography, and Textiles Technology. Being honest I do not remember much of my college life a this is when I started becoming ill, so my experience of college is not the same as others unfortunately. Luckily after finishing college I then finally got the diagnosis of being epileptic. During college I lost many friends through my epilepsy. I mean I even lost a college boyfriend (Hes a total numpty) due to the fact I had seizures, he did not like the fact that i had funny spells (seizures) so he dumped me outside New Look! And I know what al of you are thinking ''Really??''(Yes I mean it!!) And guess what I had a seizure as I was so upset and I was crying in floods of tears, although guess what he did... just walked away! I was so so very lucky my friend was about to save the day otherwise I do not like to think what could have happened to me!

The people in the photos below are my friends Holly, Emma and Kerry. They are the most amazing people in the world! And if I didn't have them back then and now, well I dred to think where I would be today.
I must also say my previous partner and his mother and step father were absolutely amazing to me as well! What they all did for me will always be in my heart and never forgotten! And I will always love them to the pieces! And they know this too :). They will always have a piece of my heart.

I can say to everyone, and I am pretty sure that other fellow epileptics will agree that epilepsy is a life tester. If you can get through the diagnosis of this, all of the conclusions and side effects to the disability then you can get through anything. So over the past few years I have felt like I have been on a constant roller coaster in which would never stop. This rollercoaster is mixed with emotions, fears, as well as what if's. Many many people who do not have this disability do just think its about seizures. But if you are one of them then stop, think and look it up! Many people are very naive about this disability and do think we have seizures and that's it. All I can say is that is just the start! I must also say to all the people who know epileptics and stand by them, well I am so proud of you all :) It sounds silly but I know my friends have had a rough time of things with this, and without them I would not not be here. So anyone who stands by there friends/family with this makes me very very very happy!!! :) I have lost so many people through this, or they now judge me differently and I know how emotionally unstable and draining this feels and I would never want this on anyone.

So the last few years has been awful for me, with all of my epilepsy diagnosis to also moving around 12 times within 3 years! Everything has been up in the air. Although in 2012 I met my amazing partner Joe. He has been there for me through so much! Through seizure scares, life problems, we have a flat together, although the one thing that does scare me is since we have been together (Fingers crossed) I have been totally controlled by my epilepsy medication so he has never seen me have a seizure. And I must say every day I get scared I will have one. Although what will be will be. We have fun, have movie evenings, meals, and cuddles! What more could a girl want :)

I currently still work full time, I have since leaving college, I have my amazing friends, certain family members, my partner and well all I do is try to stay positive everyday! If I can do it then anyone can do it. You just have to want it. On the outside I look like a normal young lady but inside and the past has been very difficult. Life has been difficult. Although think on the bright side of life!

Life in Hastings...

Not too long back I went through a bit of a pickle (Its a nice way of saying it) I was very low, upset and I really detested living in Hastings as I really thought that I did not want to be here anymore. So I took a huge risk and decided to move back to where I came from which is the lovely Essex! (Haha) So I up and left my job, all my work colleagues, my friends and started a new life in a totally different career and well all I can say is many flaws started to appear whilst living there and I started to regret the whole move. I really thought that it was going to make me happy, as I had everything planned that my partner would move to Essex with me once our contract was up on our flat, I started saving, and I was really planning and trying to keep my head held up high and just go with it all. I really did enjoy the job working in an industry I love! CLOTHES!! The people at work made me feel so welcome and it made me very upset that I left. Moving back to Essex made me realise how much Hastings is my home. How I actually love the atmosphere, the community and just everything in general.  Do not get me wrong I had my family and my best friend Emma in essex, which made up for a lot. Although I do not know why it just didnt feel right..well I didnt have my Joe for a start!. I started to realise Hastings is much much more of a community, with days such as pirate day, jack in the green, carnival day and many many more events. And just living by the sea. Its a lovely atmosphere.

Once I had realised how much happier I was living in Hastings. I applied for a few jobs in Hastings again... had my first interview and GOT IT!! I was over the moon!! So once I had confirmation from my new job I handed my notice in at work... and started planning to move back to Hastings. I actually felt excitement inside me again. Like I was going to have a fresh new start with my friends and my lovely boyfriend. It all happened so quickly I blinked and everything had changed. All of my plans eventually came together and it all went smoothly. I moved back in my flat. And started my job. I actually felt like I was at home again. I have spent loads of time with my close friends, met new people, and most of all I am enjoying the 8-5pm job again! :)

Have any of you ever had a moving experience?

River Island Bags

I do not know about all of you girlies, but I am IN LOVE with River Island bags and purses. They are hard wearing, big, multi functional, fashionable and most of all absolutely gorgeous! Although as I am sure you would all agree they aren't he cheapest! But good things come at a price! I have had so many River Island bags over the past few years and the bags and especially the purses have lasted through a lot of wear and tear, so as an excuse to buy these bags I always think 'you pay for what you get'. In which is a very true saying!

For my 21st Birthday I got a gorgeous bag and purse set from my partner as well as River Island shoes :). I was a very Happy Bunny that birthday!

Unfortunately I do not know the price of these items as it was my birthday! But I do still have these items over a year on. They are in perfect condition and still looking as white as ever! Which for me with a white bag is amazing!! The bag above is amazing for spring/summer clothing. It goes with dresses, shorts, skirts, leggings, just anything in your wardrobe. The yellow on the sideline of the bag adds a bit more colour contrast and helps make the bag stand out from a crowd.  I have received so many compliments from using this bag, people always commenting how lovely and summery the item is and how is would jazz up any dull outfit. A great thing with this bag is to lock, it is a magnetised button, and is still in perfect condition, so at least everything will stay snug in your bag. Something in which would suit many people also is the fact the bag has a detachable handle, so for days where you want that look, just attach the handle and off you go!

My partner also got me the matching purse, this is great as it has a lot of card holding compartments inside as well as having two separate compartments for change, and little hidden sections for your cash or receipts. So great for all of you girls trying to hide your clothing receipts from your boyfriends! It has a photo holding section in which always makes a purse feel more at home. So this is certainly a recommended item!

I really fancied getting another River Island bag recently, and the perfect excuse was this year on my birthday I received River Island vouchers, so I decided to treat myself to a bag set :) I fancied one that will stand out and that is a totally different to my other bags I have at home. So I chose one of my favourite colours.... PINK!!

I love this bag set as it is River Island for one... and as this set is so different to the set above. The purse is set out differently, the bag is a different shape and of course the bags are different styles and will go with different outfits :). The colours are amazing and the greatest thing is when dark it looks as if there are shining neon lights so you would never loose your bag for sure.  Another safe feature on this bag is the fact it has a zip locking system in which which keep all your bits and bobs safe within your bag.. as well as the fact it also has a detachable handle so if you are in the mood for the on the shoulder look it will take two seconds to change a look. So this is a great plus.

The purse has the same kind of components as the purse above, it has quite a few card holding compartments, plenty of change holding sections and most of all again places you can hold your receipts! :) Unfortunately at the moment the change compartment is a tad stiff to open although I am sure as I start to spend this sections will become a lot easier to open. And one more thing in which is a lovely thing to have n a purse, it has a photo holder, so you can make the purse feel a lot more personal :).

Does anyone else like River Island bags?

Every girls must have

Well I am sure all of you ladies (maybe even men) know how this feels.. Dry hands... chapped skin... soreness. in 95 % of cases as a result of washing up too much.. cleaning our bathrooms and even just generally washing our hands too much! I have always had trouble with this as I am a total clean freak.. who loves everything to be perfectly clean and bleached ;) So my worst nightmare is my hands and to what to buy to help the soreness When you go into stores like Superdrug and Boots you walk over to the hand cream range and well. Your shocked by how many types of handcreams there are. Brands such as Garnier, E45, Dove, Vaseline, Nivea and Palmers... to then being their own hand therapy brands, and flavoured hand cream. They are all different colours, different shapes, different sizes (per ml), for different types of skin i.e dry hands, greasy hands etc.  but the main thing in which attracts our eyes to the product is PRICE!

Myself personally I try to choose the best brand in which is on special offer such as Garnier and Palmers. I normally choose the cheapest option due to the fact that hand creams are in such small tubs (mainly about 50ml to 100ml per tube) so as I am sure you all know these do not last long so I would always recommend to try and find the best bargain.  I have tried the majority of creams out on the market, some are greasy, some do not help in the slightest, some do not soak in your hands very well.. you can just imagine the frustration I have had with choosing a great hand cream.  I currently have 3 different brands of hand cream I am attempting,so I will give you an update on what I think of these items.

NO.1

'I Love... Rasberry & Blackberry' 75ml tube from Superdrug at a price of 3 for £5.00

The hand cream above states that its a ''super soft hand lotion'' in which will make you ''feel invigorated with a burst of yummy raspberry and delicious blackberry''. I chose this item as within this collection in superdrug it was on special where you buy 3 products for £5.00. Which in my eyes is a bargain! I bought this, a raspberry and blackberry spray as well as the shower creme all for £5.00. Which is a bargain buy.  When using this hand cream I would definitely say it has a gorgeous aroma. As people used to say ''It does what it says on the tin'' in regards to the smells. Its a very fresh and scenty smell in which makes you literally want to taste your own hand. It smells exactly like raspberry and blackberry. It is only in need of a pea sized blob in which is most definitely a positive! Although the most important part of this product is what it feels like on your hands, and how much it helps your skin. This product goes on your hands well, and is very smooth textured although I seemed to notice it is quite greasy especially if you accidently put too much on. It leaves a lasting smell and shine although leaves a greasy texture over hands. So with this product I would give this a 6/10.

NO.2

'Hand Food' By Soap and Glory £2.50 per tube (Products for Soap and Glory formally 3 for 2)

Well all I can say to start is Soap and Glory is by all time my favourite product to use for my skin from buying their body wash, to their body butter! It does not ever make me blotchy, come up in spots, sore, its the total opposite it smells amazing, make your skin super soft and helps with spot irritation.  Due to having such a high opinion on their body products I had to try the hand cream. So I have and I can advise you all that it soaked into hands a lot quicker than the majority of cream products, it is not greasy and has a tiny scent which just makes the product. As the bottle says ''Non greasy hand cream with shea butter, macadamia oil and marshmallow''. I definitely agree with what the bottle says. Although the negatives on this hand cream is it has to be applied less than every hour to keep up with the moisture on your hands, so this does use up a lot of the bottle and at 50ml it makes the bottle go very quick! (And to think this is the most expensive hand cream) When applying you would have to do x 2 pea sized blobs to cover both hands. Another thing in which I noticed was due to the scent being so light it makes it go within about 5 minutes of applying, so you would smell an amazing scent when applying but 5 minutes after you would not be able to smell anything at all.So in all their are a few minor problems with the product but it is a good product in general. So this product I would give this a 7/10.

No.3

Avon Care 'Silicone Glove' 100 ml and Avon Care 'Glycerine hand & Nail' 100 ml at £1.25 per tube on special offer- (RRP £1.75 per tube)

I used to shop with avon a lot in the past due to a close friend being a promoter for them. So I used to buy their hand cream a lot! And being honest it was always my favourite! Unfortunately she stopped being a promoter for them so I was unable to purchase the product for a while, but now one of my other close friends has become a promoter
( Please check out her blog at http://www.pamperpreenperfect.blogspot.co.uk ).
So I have been shopping with them a lot lately! They are such bargain prices! I bought the above 2 bottles for a bargain price of £1.25 per tube. I have never tried these specific hand creams from Avon before so I was hoping that I would end up with positive results! And guess what they have! The hand cream is amazing, you only have to put a pea sized blob of hand cream onto your hands to cover them. So as I am sure you have worked out this hand cream would last a lot longer than the two products above, and it would save you a few pennies in your pocket!.

The Silcone Glove hand cream has no scent. It is a ''Protective hand cream'' in which ''works like an invisible glove by protecting hands against detergents and water during daily housework''. This cream is great to put on before going to bed. Due to the glove effect it helps protect your hands over night and helps moisturise them whist your sleeping. I have been using this product religiously at night since buying it and it has worked wonders. It soakes into your hands very well, it is non greasy and you wake up in the morning with lovely soft hands! So this product would definitely receive a 9/10.

The Glycerine hand & nail cream is ''formulated to help restore moisture to hands whilst leaving nails looking healthy and shiny''. This product contains 'Pink Magnolia with vitamin e, glycerine'. Again with this product you would only be in need of a pea sized amount which is great! It smells gorgeous and amazingly the scent stays on your hands, it soakes into skin very well and leaves hand feeling smooth and non-greasy. This kind of hand cream is great for during the day as you would not be in need of applying as much as normal due to the moisture given to your hands. This product would also receive a 9/10.

So I have covered all three brands of hand cream. Superdrugs own, Avon Care and Soap and Glory and I have given you my results on all three. I really hope this post helps you decide what hand cream to purchase in the future!

What hand cream do you use? Are any of you going to attempt the products I have reviewed?

Blog away...

Well as you all may not know but my name is Alice. I am 22 years old in a few days now! So well I am getting old! I am officially diagnosed as an epileptic and have been since I was 18. Don't get me wrong my life within the last few years hasn't been easy but I have got through it with the help of certain individuals who I will love forever! Epilepsy is an awful condition to live with and if others had experienced this they would most certainly understand the struggles in which we go through day by day. I have been blogging for about 2 and a half years although had a big gap in between due to personal health and situations at home. But do not worry I am back, ready and raring to go! I previously blogged about bits and bobs and about my struggle through epilepsy as well as certain things that interest me such as fashion, design, accessories and about bargains I have found on the highstreet ( In which I know everyone loves a bargain ). I will try my upmost best to give you all of the blogs posts in which you will all want to read and to follow. I will be posting from writing about new lingerie, clothing fashion, nail art, new products, home/ personal accessories to talking about epilepsy and what us Epileptics have to go through on a day to day basis.

Most certainly give me feedback where is needed and please also ask if there is anything in which you would like me to cover within my blog :) As I am always wanting to try and post about something new. So ideas are more than welcome :)

Well please keep up to date with reading my blog as I will now hopefully be posting weekly! Well I hope you are all safe and well! And have fun reading :)
